Come along for a day in the heart of our bakery in West Hythe for a sourdough deep-dive. You’ll gather around our beautiful wooden bench to be taught by one of our senior bakers about sourdough starters, mixing, shaping and baking. You’ll be able to take your new knowledge and make great bread at home to impress and nourish friends and family!
What to expect?
A focused and hands-on day to learn about making different sourdough loaves. We will make our classic ‘House’ sourdough, a ciabatta and a 100% rye sourdough. We will be on hand to help you with any practical or technical questions you may have, whether that’s with what you are learning on the day or issues you’ve had making sourdough at home. As we progress through the day we will discuss making and maintaining starters, mixing & autolyse, dough temperatures & proofing, and how to get a great bake in a home oven.
Timings - 10am till approximately 3pm.
Who’s this workshop for?
If you are interested in making Sourdough then this is for you! If you are at the beginning of your baking journey we’ll give you lots of simple to follow instructions and information to fast track you to making good bread at home. If you’ve been making Sourdough for a while but want to raise the quality and consistency of your loaves we will give you guidance and help to take your bread to the next level.
- You’ll get to take home all the bread you make throughout the day.
- We’ll send you home with your own proofing basket, dough scraper and recipe book.
- Sourdough starter to take home (please bring a pot)
- Pizza for lunch. Make your own if you fancy!
- Hot and cold drinks throughout the day.
